The Opera Crypto Browser’s BNB Chain integration follows its much-awaited launch in April on iOS, which opened the service to millions of new users worldwide. This followed the original beta release of the browser on Mac, Windows, and Android in January.

BNB Chain boasts over 4+ Million Weekly Unique Active Users, 36 Million weekly transactions on average and more than $13 billion in total value locked (TVL) within its Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem — making it one of the most popular blockchain ecosystems in the industry.

Aside from the built-in wallet, the “Crypto Browser is also expected to have support for decentralized apps or dApps, have easy access to cryptocurrency or NFT exchanges, and other additional features.

As per Jorgen Arnesen, the Opera EVP, the total aim is to simplify the whole Web3 experience that is often bewildering to certain mainstream users.

It is possible to purchase cryptocurrencies through fiat currency for cryptography, exchange cryptocurrency directly in the wallet, send and receive it and check the balance of your wallet. It also has a secure clipboard that ensures that other applications will not be able to transfer data when copying/pasting text.

Another main feature of Opera Crypto Browser is Web3 support, also known as blockchain-based decentralized Internet. In addition to providing additional security using blockchain encryption, it allows users to access things such as GameFi, “where you can earn money by playing all kinds of metaverse,” Opera notes.
It also offers Crypto Corner with the latest blockchain news, which also “allows you to develop your Web3 skills,” according to Opera.

Blockchain and cryptocurrency-related features

Thanks to the Web3-focused feature set, Opera Crypto Browser brings to the table more than a traditional web browser, without making a compromise on speed, due to its fast Chromium-based engine.

The so-called Crypto Corner gives you access to the latest news related to blockchain and cryptocurrency and provides information at a glance about the evolution of the cryptocurrency market, prices and gas fees, podcasts, videos and other educational content about trading and mining, upcoming airdrops, an industry events calendar, NFTs, and more, all in a single place.

The browser also comes with a built-in crypto wallet, which makes it possible for you to manage your portfolio and your personal assets without having to use a third-party application or install an extension.

To Shape Its Future, Web3 Requires A Dedicated Web3 Crypto Browser

There is no doubt that decentralization has been an increasingly relevant aspect of the internet experience for years now.

As interest for a more decentralized Web keeps growing, we have chosen to take an active role in shaping what the next generation of the Web looks like and how it will be accessed. Browsers will continue to play a crucial role in the decentralized internet and today’s beta release reflects that.

Too few of the web browsing experiences offered today have been built to put Web3 centerstage and make blockchain technologies understandable and easy to use. With the Crypto Browser Project, we have set out to change this, and starting today, we are inviting the blockchain community to join this mission.

Opera has launched its Web3 “Crypto Browser” into beta with features like a built-in crypto wallet, easy access to cryptocurrency/NFT exchanges, support for decentralized apps (dApps) and more. The aim is to “simplify the Web3 user experience that is often bewildering for mainstream users,” Opera EVP Jorgen Arnensen said in statement.

A key feature is the built-in non-custodial wallet that will support blockchains including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Celo and Nervos from the get-go. It also announced partnerships with Polygon and others.
The idea is to let you access your crypto without the need for any extensions, with the option of using third-party wallets as well. You can purchase cryptocurrencies via a fiat to crypto on-ramp, swap crypto directly in-wallet, send and receive it and check your wallet balance.

Opera’s Crypto Browser Project promises a simpler, faster, more private Web3 experience for users,” said Jorgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera.

“It simplifies a Web3 user experience that is often bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use for the decentralized web to reach its full potential.”

Crypto ‘scam’

Arnesen’s view is very different to that of Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner – now CEO of rival browser Vivaldi – who derided cryptocurrencies as an unethical scam just last week.

“Cryptocurrency has been touted by many as a revolution in currency, the future of investment, and a breakthrough technology,” von Tetzchner wrote on the Vivaldi blog.

He included that customers ought to obtain a “real benefit” as well as a “superior” experience when engaging with them.

In February, the Technology Times reported that the Crypto Web3 activity is searching for possible staff members of technology titans such as Facebook, Google as well as Amazon.com.

The browser will also come with other security features such as a native ad and tracker blocker, pop-up blocker, and an intuitive Cookie Dialogue Blocker.

To provide a seamless Web3 experience to Apple users, it will support eight major blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, IXO, Solana, Ronin, StarkEx, and Nervos Network. Opera has also collaborated with Yat, the platform involved in the creation of emoji-based web URLs. This partnership will allow users to enter certified Yats–a string of emojis–instead of words and letters into the URL bar.

Jorgan Arnesan, executive vice president-Mobile at Opera, said, “The Opera Crypto Browser Project was built to simplify the Web3 user experience that has often been bewildering for mainstream users.
